About the Game

Tank Crew is a passion project inspired by the class-based chaos of Team Fortress 2 and the cooperative crew dynamics of Sea of Thieves. The goal is simple: create a game where teamwork isn't just encouraged, it's essential.

You and your crew will need to coordinate, communicate, and execute well-thought-out strategies to outmaneuver and destroy the opposing tank. No lone wolves here. Victory belongs to the team that works together.

Gameplay Changes and an Art Pass

Hello again! Since the move into Beta, the playtests have been giving me a lot to chew on, so here's a look at what's changed.

On the gameplay side, the biggest shift is ammo. Shells are no longer endless. Crews now have to haul them from supply stations and crates back to the tank, which gives everyone outside the hull a real job to do. Switching seats has been reworked too, so moving between driver, gunner and commander feels a lot smoother. The commander now has a proper machine gun to work with, barbed wire can be laid down to slow the enemy, the field gun has been overhauled, and ladders let you get up and around the map in new ways. Rounds that run out of time are also settled properly now, rather than just fizzling out.

On the art side, the tank has had a lot of love. The driver has working dashboard gauges, you can watch shells get loaded into the breech, spent casings fly out of the commander's gun, and the tracks and suspension have been reworked so the tank actually sits on the ground. Hats are getting some attention too, with special effects on the way. I'm also building a brand new map, after playtesters told me the current one felt too flat and cramped.

There's plenty more under the hood, including a big pile of bug fixes. Thanks to everyone who has jumped into a playtest so far. Your feedback is shaping the game in a big way, so keep it coming!

Breaking Into Beta

Hello! It's been a little while, and I've been hard at work on Tank Crew. There have been a lot of changes that I'll be sharing with you soon.

But it's safe to say the game is starting to break out of Alpha and into a multiplayer Beta. That's an important step, as I'll need more feedback to improve the game during this vital stage of development.

Welcome to Tank Crew!

Hi, I'm James Attree, the indie developer behind Tank Crew, a passion project that's been brewing in my mind for a while now.

My goal with Tank Crew is simple: create a game where teamwork isn't just encouraged, it's essential. You and your crew will need to coordinate, communicate, and execute well-thought-out strategies to outmaneuver and destroy the opposing tank. No lone wolves here. Victory belongs to the team that works together.

The inspiration for Tank Crew came from games I love: the class-based chaos of Team Fortress 2 and the cooperative crew dynamics of Sea of Thieves. I wanted to capture that magic of working together with friends, but dial up the strategic depth and drop it into a faster, more competitive environment.

I'm excited to share this journey with you. Stay tuned for development updates, behind-the-scenes looks, and more!
